Stay in Turin by Marc Gascon

Trip to Turin

When I boarded the plane, I didn’t feel many strong emotions, but there was a bit of anxiety. When we arrived in Turin, Daniele from Didaxe picked us up, and we rested in a temporary apartment until ours was ready. As I was exhausted from waking up very early, I slept for a few hours before heading to the apartment.

Impressions of the country

Italy had always attracted me for its culture and gastronomy, but Turin surprised me with its own particularities. The weather, much colder and rainier than I expected, made me miss the sun of Catalonia. The language was also a challenge, as I didn’t have much previous experience with Italian.

Travel

Turin gradually revealed its charms to me. Piazza Castello captivated me with its elegant architecture and lively atmosphere. Parco del Valentino, next to the River Po, became my favorite place to relax after work hours.

Internship

At Engim, my tasks evolved over the weeks. At first, I focused on basic technical support: fixing computer issues, installing software, and replacing components. As I gained confidence, I took part in more complex projects, such as working with their SSH server.

The company

The atmosphere at Engim was ideal for my first work experiences. The supervisors combined high expectations with support, which allowed me to learn from my mistakes. The flexible schedule was a pleasant surprise: I could adapt my timetable according to the tasks I had pending, which helped me learn to manage my time better.
